Company Description
Colchester Zoo was first opened in 1963 under the management of Frank and Helen Farrah. It was originally known as Stanway Hall Park and commenced as a collection in the grounds of Stanway Hall, with just 25 acres of land and a small collection of exotic animals. The zoo was taken over by new management in 1983. Since this time, the current owners, the Tropeano family, have invested in the zoos redevelopment and as a result the zoo has increased in size to 60 acres. It now holds over 160 different species, many of which are part of international breeding programmes. Colchester Zoo is dedicated to supporting conservation projects around the globe via its charitable arm, Action for the Wild.
