Job Description

Battersea Park Children’s Zoo is offering a one-day or two-day placement working with its fabulous animal team across across all taxa: Primates, birds, small carnivores, reptiles & amphibians & rare heritage breeds.

Battersea Park Children’s Zoo opened its gates in 1951 and has been a community hub for conservation and education for decades. Our diverse animal collection is cared for by a small, dynamic and close-knit team of keepers. As one of the smallest BIAZA zoos and the country’s only specialised children’s zoo, our mission has always been to inspire the next generation of conservationists with our work. We work with several EEP species, community outreach programmes and conservation partnerships to both reintroduce native species and connect inner-city children with conservation right here in the capital.

This exciting opportunity will give the successful applicants an insight into our daily husbandry routines, training, and conservation efforts. We care for a wide array of species across our three sections, such as brown capuchin, white-nosed coati, Bali myna, Asian short-clawed otter, Scottish wildcat and several native rare breeds, to name a few…

This placement would benefit someone who wants to gain experience working with variety of species in an exciting small zoo setting. We are open to this placement taking place on a date preferred by both the applicant and the Head Keeper between the 1st April 2026 and 1st May 2026.

Please apply with your CV and a cover letter. Please let us know if you have any specific interests – we can’t wait to welcome you to our zoo for the day!
